To successfully introduce rapid development, management must pay careful attention to human motivation. The champion of new techniques should determine how best to motivate the users involved and the IT staff. This is especially important when old methodologies are bureaucratically entrenched.
Different people respond to different forms of motivation., so management should identify the type of motivation most effective for each individual. Perhaps the most powerful motivation is excitement.

Workshop leaders should generate a sense of excitement, a sense that fundamental change is occurring. Users and IT staff should receive the message that it is exciting to be a part of the RAD revolution, and to build a mission-critical system that will change the enterprise in a relatively short time.
