Section Introduction
In each stage in this section, there is a description of the deliverables produced in that stage followed by a description of all of the tasks performed within that stage.
Deliverables are the products of the tasks performed in the ADM. Deliverables represent tangible products of the system development process. Deliverables are sometimes referred to as decision points when the end-product is a business decision rather than a more tangible product such as a design or a set of operable program instructions.
For each deliverable produced, this section contains a description and purpose. Also associated with each deliverable is the label of the ADM task which creates or updates it. Information about the task can be found by looking in the activity portion of this section.
Tasks are described in the sequence in which they are normally executed. However, the tasks in this Stage 2 are iterative and may be performed concurrently.
For each task contributing to a stage, this section contains a description of the task and may also list a series of steps supporting the task. Following the series of steps or elements supporting the task is a list of the deliverable(s) which the task may produce. More information about each deliverable can be obtained by finding that particular deliverable in the deliverables portion of this section.
The deliverable can also be looked up in the Deliverable - Role Matrix to determine whether it is recommended or optional, its optionality criteria and what parties have what responsibilities to successfully complete it. The Deliverable - Role Matrix is located in the ADM Deliverable Responsibilities section.
The ADM provides that deliverables may exist in verbal or documented form. It also provides that verification of the fulfillment of the deliverables (and decision points) can be either verbal or written. The form of the deliverable and its verification are expected to be consistent. The decision as to which form is to be used is usually made by the business and/or technical project manager.
For additional information regarding the ADM stages, tasks and deliverables, refer to the ADM Life-cycle or ADM Stages Overview sections in the ADM Introduction. That material also describes the terminology and conventions used throughout this section.
