The Champion of New Techniques Should Identify Early Adopters

The champion of new techniques needs to identify the early adopters. The champion needs early successes to demonstrate the value of the new techniques, and such successes are most likely to come about when energetic people get excited about learning a new skill and put it to work to achieve something special.

The champion of new techniques must create organizational structures that encourage early adopters, must motivate them well, and must protect their work from the opposition of the resisters. The early adopters should know that if they fail at their first effort, there will be no penalty. People often learn from an early failure and turn that experience into repeated successes.
